# Restoring Files from Acronis Backups

The whole purpose of having backups is the ability to recover data from those backups when needed. [Acronis Backups](https://www.liquidweb.com/hosting-add-ons/acronis-cyber-backups/) make this process simple.

### WARNING:
---
Always be careful when restoring backups. If you restore a backup to the original location, you may overwrite newer data that will then be lost. And NEVER restore any database files directly to their original location. Generally, a second database instance should be used to export/import databases into a live database engine.

1. Find the server for which you want to recover files/folders in the Acronis Backup Portal. For help accessing your Acronis Backups, see [Accessing Acronis Backups.](https://docs.nexcess.com/hosting/hosting-services/acronis-cyber-backups/accessing-acronis-backups/)
2. Click **Recover**.
