# FTP account passwords and directories in SiteWorx

## Add a new FTP Account

1. Log in to your SiteWorx account. 
    - If you do not know your password, click **Forgot your password** on the login page.
2. From the SiteWorx main menu, click **Hosting Features > FTP > Accounts.**
3. In the **FTP Username** field, enter your desired username.
4. Type your password, or click **Generate** to have one created for you.
5. Note your root directory in the **Home Directory** field. To select a specific subdirectory, click the default directory and select your preferred directory, then select your desired directory from the directory tree and click **OK**.
6. Expand each directory if necessary by clicking on the plus sign and then on the subdirectory name. Click **Add** when ready.
7. You must now whitelist any IP addresses that will log in using SSH. Follow the instructions in [How to manage firewall whitelists in SiteWorx](https://docs.nexcess.com/sites-stores/control-panel/interworx/siteworx/security/allow-or-deny-access-via-firewall/). In Step 4 of that document, select SSH.

## Edit FTP Accounts

1. Log in to your SiteWorx account. 
    - If you do not know your password, click **Forgot your password** on the login page.
2. From the Common Tasks section, click **Change FTP Password**.
3. When prompted, select your desired user, then click **Continue**.
4. Choose one or both:
    - **To change the password**, enter the new password in the **Password** and **Confirm Password** fields.
    - **To change the accessible directory**, select the **Home Directory** field, select your desired directory from the directory tree. then click **OK**.
5. Click **Save**.
