# The Four Types of Kadence Elements

When creating a new Kadence Element, you will be prompted to select a specific **Element** **Type**. Each *Element Type* can be used for different purposes.

![New Element Setup](https://docs.nexcess.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/New-Element-Setup.jpeg)The available Element Template types are: **[Content Section](#content-section-elements)** elements, **[Fixed Section](#fixed-section-elements)** elements, **[Template](#template-elements)** elements, and **[HTML Editor](#html-editor-elements)** elements. Use **Kadence** **Blocks** and **[dynamic content](https://docs.nexcess.com/software/kadence/dynamic-content/)** to design and style your *Elements*. Learn about each template type below.

Content Section Elements

**Content** **Section** **Elements** allow you to add content to any hook available on the website. This can be useful for inserting content into posts and pages on your website. For example, you can add a Content Section Hooked Element directly after the header. You can also insert Content Section Elements within the content of the current post. Use the Element Settings to view various theme hooks or use a custom hook.

Fixed Section Elements

**Fixed** **Section** **Elements** add a Fixed Section to the page. Allowing you to display content that remains in a fixed position over the screen, overlaying the current post or page content. You can place *Fixed Elements* at the top or bottom of the page and choose to display them on scroll or immediately on page load.

Template Elements

**Template Elements** allow you to take dynamic control over key areas of your website. With Template Elements, you can replace default sections such as the **Header**, **Above Content Hero**, **Single Post Content**, **Archive Content**, and more. This allows you to make complete Single Post Templates, Archive Templates, and more.

Template Elements can be more advanced, as they can replace Single Posts, Single Pages, and Archive Pages. With that in mind, it is suggested to [read this entire document](https://docs.nexcess.com/software/kadence/theme/create-a-template-element/) to explore all of the possibilities of Kadence Template Elements.

HTML Editor Elements

**HTML** **Editor** **Elements** give you full control when it comes to inserting custom HTML anywhere on your site. Whether you want to add scripts, third-party embed codes, or completely custom markup, this element type is perfect for developers or advanced users who want to go beyond block-based layouts.
