# Display & Content Options

LearnDash provides a wide range of quiz settings that allow you to control **how learners access quizzes, how progression is managed, and how quizzes are displayed on the front end**. These options help you design fair, engaging, and professional assessments.

---

#### Quiz Access Settings

- **Quiz Release Schedule**
    - By default, quizzes are available immediately.
    - You can “drip” release quizzes based on:
        - A set number of days after enrollment, or
        - A specific calendar date.
- **Quiz Prerequisite**
    - Require learners to pass a specific quiz before accessing the current one.
    - Useful for creating progressive assessments that build on prior knowledge.
- **Allowed Users**
    - Restrict quiz access to **registered users only**.
    - Helpful when:
        - Embedding quizzes via shortcodes outside of courses.
        - Running open courses but limiting quiz participation to logged-in learners.

---

#### Progression and Restriction Settings

- **Passing Score**
    - Default is **80%**, but this can be customized.
- **Quiz Certificate**
    - Award a certificate for passing.
    - You can set a different percentage threshold for certificates than the passing score.
- **Enable Quiz Saving**
    - Lets learners save progress in long quizzes and resume later.
    - Without this option, learners must finish in one sitting.
- **Restrict Quiz Retakes**
    - By default, unlimited retakes are allowed.
    - You can limit attempts (e.g., 5 retries).
    - Apply restrictions to:
        - Registered users only
        - Anonymous users only
        - Or all users (default if left blank).
    - Resetting attempts:
        - Anonymous users: via a reset button.
        - Registered users: by deleting failed attempts in their WordPress profile.
- **Question Completion Requirement**
    - Ensures all questions must be answered before submission.
    - Strongly recommended for accurate scoring.
- **Time Limit**
    - Set a countdown timer (e.g., 15 minutes).
    - Once time expires, the quiz auto-submits.
    - Unanswered questions are marked with zero points.

#### Display and Content Options

- **Question Overview Table**
    - Displays:
        - Current question
        - Questions marked as reviewed
        - Answered questions
        - Incorrect answers (if immediate feedback is enabled)
    - Includes a **quiz summary button**.
- **Custom Question Ordering**
    - By default, questions appear in builder order.
    - Options include:
        - Sort by category
        - Randomize question order
        - Randomly display a subset (e.g., show 30 out of 52 questions).
- **Additional Question Display Options**
    - **Question Position**: Shows learner’s place in the quiz (e.g., “Question 3 of 10”).
    - **Question Numbering**: Displays sequential numbers.
    - **Question Category**: Shows the category for each question.
    - **Point Value**: Displays the point value for each question.
    - **Number Answers**: Numbers the answer choices for clarity.
- **Quiz Title**
    - Optionally display the quiz title throughout the quiz.

### Why This Matters

These settings give you precise control over quiz delivery, access, and presentation. By combining access rules, progression restrictions, and display options, you can create assessments that are **fair, flexible, and engaging** for learners.

> **Tip:** Use a mix of prerequisites, passing scores, and randomized questions to design robust quizzes that measure true mastery while preventing guesswork or memorization.
