# Events Calendar Pro 5.9.0

### Summary

Feature Release

Events Calendar Pro 5.9.0 features a new way to add, edit, and delete events right from the WordPress Dashboard, using the new **Events Manager**!

As always, we recommend updating on a [staging site](https://docs.nexcess.com/software/the-events-calendar/creating-and-using-a-wordpress-staging-site/), just to be safe, but it should all be smooth sailing.

? Please note that Events Calendar Pro 5.9.0 is only compatible with The Events Calendar 5.9.0 and higher.

New features included in this release:

- You can now view events in a calendar format within the dashboard using the new Events Manager!
- Changes made in the WordPress Customizer will now [impact shortcodes and widgets](https://docs.nexcess.com/software/the-events-calendar/calendar-embed-shortcodes/) by default.
- We’ve stopped compiling CSS custom properties and now leave them exposed and accessible to the WordPress Customizer and third party developers.
- We updated WordPress Customizer styles to leverage our new CSS custom properties and to support our new [WordPress Customizer font controls](https://docs.nexcess.com/software/the-events-calendar/wordpress-customizer-events/).
