### Summary

Feature Release

Filter Bar 5.0 is a design refresh that integrates calendar filters with the latest version of the events search bar in The Events Calendar.

This is a feature release with some updated design changes. That said, it’s always a good idea to [backup](https://docs.nexcess.com/software/the-events-calendar/creating-site-backups/) your site and test changes in a [development environment](https://docs.nexcess.com/software/the-events-calendar/creating-and-using-a-wordpress-staging-site/) before installing this on your live site, as you would with any other WordPress update.

New features included in this release:

- Filter Bar now honors the [WordPress Customizer ](https://docs.nexcess.com/software/the-events-calendar/wordpress-customizer-events/)accent color setting.
- We introduced a new filter that allows vertical filters to be open by default.

#### ✅ Fixed

Bugs that were squashed in this release:

We fixed the logic for how Filter Bar adds CSS body classes to a page so it prevents inadvertent conflicts with theme styles.

#### ⚙️ Developers

A new constant is available to disable the latest Filter Bar design updates.

Add the following to your `wp-config.php` file to preserve the previous design and remove it when you are ready to implement the updates.

```
