# The Events Calendar 6.0.0

### Summary

Feature Release

The latest version of The Events Calendar features a new event data storage system, improved performance on calendar views, and faster event creation and editing. Legacy views have been fully deprecated.

As always, we recommend [testing updates](https://docs.nexcess.com/software/the-events-calendar/creating-and-using-a-wordpress-staging-site/) on a staging site first, but it should all be smooth sailing. **Note that this update is a big one and you must complete an additional event migration process to take advantage of the new features. Learn more about the migration process in our Knowledgebase article.**

**Version:** The Events Calendar 6.0.0 is only compatible with Events Calendar Pro 6.0.0 and higher.

**Note:** Our plugins now support only [PHP version 7.3](https://docs.nexcess.com/software/the-events-calendar/system-requirements/) or higher.

#### ✨ New

New features included in this release:

- **Legacy views are now fully deprecated** and most of the template files and code was removed.
- **New event data storage system** using custom tables.
- We’ve included custom tables and optimization of Cache Primers to enable reduced and stabilized number of queries on Event views.
- Inclusion of Event Occurrences custom table `{$prefix}_tec_occurrences`.
- Inclusion of Events custom table `{$prefix}_tec_events`.
