How to Order Acronis EDR for Your Server
Introduction
Acronis Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) delivers real-time threat detection, anomaly monitoring, and incident correlation directly onto protected server workloads. EDR acts as an unmanaged, self-service security capability that instantly isolates threats upon detection. Enabling this addon provides complete visibility into your workload security posture directly within your Nexcess portal.
Prerequisites
Before ordering EDR, ensure you meet the following requirements:
- Portal Access: Valid login credentials for the Nexcess Client Portal.
- Purchase Ability: A user role within the Nexcess Client Portal that grants access to hosting management (e.g., Owner, Secondary Owner, or Purchaser).
- Platform Eligibility: Your workload must be hosted on a Nexcess Managed Cloud server, such as a Cloud VPS, Cloud Dedicated, or Cloud Server. Traditional dedicated servers and bare-metal infrastructure are currently ineligible.
- Disk Space: Your server requires a minimum of 30 GB of free disk space to successfully download and run the agent.
- ThreatDown Exclusivity: EDR and ThreatDown (Malwarebytes) cannot run concurrently. If active, you must completely uninstall ThreatDown before the EDR agent provisioning can complete.
- Backup Storage Lock: Ordering EDR standalone permanently assigns that server’s tenant storage location to the Acronis Cloud. If you require Liquid Web datacenter storage for future backups, you must order Acronis Backup and EDR simultaneously.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How much does EDR cost?
EDR costs $5 per workload, per month.
Will Nexcess manage the security alerts for me?
No. EDR is specifically designed as an unmanaged, customer-operated tool. You are entirely responsible for reviewing portal alerts, investigating incidents, and executing remediation directly inside the Acronis console.

If I already use Acronis Backup, do I need to reinstall the agent?
No. EDR features instant, zero-install enablement via a configuration flag for workloads already running the Acronis Cyber Protect agent.
Does installing EDR guarantee my server cannot be hacked?
No. Subscribing a workload to EDR does not guarantee complete security or immunity against malicious attacks, ransomware, or zero-day exploits.
