Installation

In LearnDash version 4.18.0, licensing and management features are included directly within the core LearnDash plugin.

License Visibility

By default, only the administrator who installed LearnDash can view licensing details.

To allow other users to view and manage licensing:

1. Navigate to LearnDash LMS > Settings > Advanced > License Visibility
2. Add the user who should have access
3. Click +ADD button to save the change

If a user who hasn’t been added tries to access the license page, they will see this message. That user also can’t view Add-ons or receive LearnDash updates.

Once added, these users can view Licensing details.

Managing the LearnDash License

An active license is required to receive automatic updates, access official add-ons, and utilize LearnDash support.

Moving a License to a New Site

A LearnDash license can be transferred from one site to another. The license must be removed from the old site before it can be used on a new one.

Remove the License From the Old Site

1. Log in to the old site’s WordPress admin area
2. Navigate to LearnDash LMS > Settings > LMS License
3. Click the “SIGN OUT” button to remove the license email and license key

How to Transfer or Remove a License from a Domain

1. Log in to your account at https://software.liquidweb.com/.
2. From your Dashboard, navigate to the Subscription tab.
3. Locate your specific software subscription (e.g., LearnDash LMS or GiveWP) and click the Manage button next to it.
4. Scroll down to the Sites Management section.
5. To remove a license: Locate the specific domain you want to disconnect, then click Deactivate (or Delete).
6. To add a site: Click the Add Site button, enter the new domain you want to connect to the license, and click Add site again to confirm.
7. Finally, install and activate the software on your new WordPress site by following the steps in the guide: Installing Software via the Liquid Web Portal.

Once activated, the license is fully transferred to the new site.

LearnDash Licensing & Management plugin won’t activate or gives a “fatal error” when trying to activate.

In LearnDash 4.18.0 and later, the licensing process and features are integrated directly into the core LearnDash plugin.
As a result, the separate LearnDash Licensing and Management plugin is not required. You can safely delete it after updating to version 4.18.0 or higher
